My Role

UX designer and UX researcher where responsibilities include creation of logo, assets, components, sketches, conducting user interviews and creating empathy maps, user personas, and journey flows. Culminating product will be the creation of clickable comps delivered via Figma and Adobe XD.

User Personas

After looking at the aggregate data obtained from the user interviews, I created 2 user personas based off the potential target audience. The first persona consisted of an older Gen Z college student who is looking for inspiration for their VR world applications, and a retired mother who was a former fashion designer and occasional event planner who wishes to highlight the best in life.


Sam Leeds

Demographic:

Age - 20

Education - Current B.S.E. Student

Hometown - Los Angeles, CA

Family - Partner and 1 Cat

Occupation - Software Engineering Student

Goals:

  • Find the most unique and exotic arrangements for VR inspiration

  • Be at the forefront of the new and exclusive events/apps


Frustrations:

  • Most floral arrangements look common

  • Local florists do not have an app or site to custom build arrangements


Sam Leeds

Bio: Sam is a senior year college student at UCLA who aspires to break into the virtual reality field when they graduate. On their free time, they love to seek out all the new and exclusive foods, events and experiences found around the LA area with their partner and love to support their local businesses as much as they can.

Age - 68

Education - M.A. In Fashion Design

Hometown - Miami, FL

Family - Partnered With 3 Children

Occupation - Retired Fashion and Costume Designer and Occasional Event Planner

Goals:

  • Browse and create the most beautiful bouquet for special occasions

  • Pick up simple floral arrangement for everyday occasions

  • Have pre-made arrangements ready to go quickly for events


Frustrations:

  • Some florists have old and wilting flowers in stock

  • “A few of these arrangements are lackluster and common to grocery stores”

  • Some arrangements take hours to be made, or are not ready in time for event


Bio: Betsy is a retired fashion and costume designer who worked on famous films and tv shows from the past decades. During their working experience, they loved to fully immerse themself in the setting of what they were working on. On their free time, they love to enjoy the finer and subtle things in life with their partner such enjoying the sunset on the beach, making homemade food and having rotating visits with their kids.

With these freshly created personas, the next step was to define the main problems these users have at hand. The 2 main themes included having the need for an app to build and purchase floral arrangements that are not easily found in normal markets as well as having a fast and efficient service of quality floral arrangements that can be purchased in an express manner.
